Recipes, audiences and page styles

What a recipe decides for your funnel, how the audience filter works, the three page styles, which recipes collect enquiries, and what the planned steps in the Funnel journey tab mean.

What a recipe is

A recipe is the starting point for a funnel. FunnelCreative has 10 recipes. When you pick one, it decides:

  • The structure: which pages the funnel has and which sections each page starts with.
  • The sample copy: a headline, an introduction, button text and a list of benefits, written for a made-up business. Recipes with a form also get a short thank-you message. You replace it with your own words.
  • The page style the funnel starts in.
  • The starting form: which questions visitors answer, and which are required. You can change the questions in the editor. Some recipes have no form (see below).
  • The outcome: what kind of enquiry the funnel collects, and which promises its thank-you page can make. See What your funnel collects.
  • The follow-up email drafts that come with it.
  • The planned journey shown in the Funnel journey tab.

Your choice of recipe is always yours. A suggestion on the Create screen never picks one for you, and nothing later changes the recipe you chose.

Every recipe, with its form fields, outcome and email drafts, is listed in the Recipe reference.

The audience filter

Each recipe is made for one or more kinds of business. When all recipes are shown, buttons above the cards filter them:

  • Courses
  • Software
  • Ecommerce
  • Coaching
  • Services

All recipes shows everything again. A recipe appears under every audience it is made for, so Waitlist sign-ups shows under Software, Courses and Ecommerce. Each card’s small label shows only the first audience it lists.

The Create screen starts with five recipes. Click Browse all 10 recipes to see the rest and the filter. The Recipe library in the sidebar always shows all 10. See Create a funnel from your offer.

Which recipes collect enquiries

A funnel collects enquiries through its form. Seven recipes have a form. Three do not.

Limit: Software trial to activation, Product offer with optional upsell and Application to discovery call have no form in this release. A funnel made from one of them has no thank-you page, and its main button points at a later step that doesn’t exist. It can’t be published or collect enquiries, and the editor can’t add a form. If you sell software or products, use Waitlist sign-ups. If you coach, use Consultation enquiries.

The three page styles

A page style sets the overall look of your page. FunnelCreative has three. The editor and the Brand & presets settings use different names for the same three styles:

  • Warm editorial (called Editorial in Brand & presets)
  • Bold launch (called Launch in Brand & presets)
  • Clear & professional (called Service in Brand & presets)

To change the style:

  1. Open the Page design tab.
  2. Under Funnel basics (or at the top of the panel for a browser draft), choose from Page style.
  3. The preview updates straight away.

Your copy stays exactly as it is when you switch styles. Only the look changes. On a workspace funnel the change saves like any other edit, so you can undo it.

Planned steps

Each recipe describes a whole journey, from the first page a visitor sees to what happens much later. FunnelCreative builds the first step: the landing page with its form, plus the thank-you page for recipes that have a form. Every later step is a guide for the rest of your process, not a feature.

To see the journey, open the Funnel journey tab in the editor. It says This recipe’s planned journey. The landing page is available to edit; later steps are a guide for the full build.

  • The first step is marked Editable, with the note Your editable landing-page preview.
  • Every other step is marked Planned, with the note Planned journey step.

For recipes with a form, the step after the landing page is usually called Request received. It is marked Planned too, but the thank-you page it describes does exist: visitors see it after they send the form.

Planned steps such as a checkout, course access, a trial signup or an order summary are not built in FunnelCreative, and none of them can be switched on. No one can pay, enrol, book or get access through your funnel. Handle those steps in your own tools after someone enquires.
