Business facts, confirmation and placeholders

Why FunnelCreative asks you to confirm facts about your business, what counts as confirmed, and how fact placeholders keep unconfirmed details off your published page.

Why facts matter

Your page should only say things that are true about your business. FunnelCreative keeps a short list of business facts with each funnel. A fact counts only once you confirm it. Until then it is a suggestion for you to check.

Facts do two jobs:

  • They decide what your thank-you page promises. The promised next step you confirm is the exact statement visitors see after they send the form.
  • They fill placeholders: tokens that hold the place of a detail until you confirm it (see below).

Editing your page never waits for facts. You can change any copy at any time. Only publishing waits.

The facts FunnelCreative asks for

Three facts are required before you can publish:

FactQuestion in the appWhat it holds
AudienceWho is this for?The people you want to reach, in your words
OfferWhat are you offering? One or two sentences a visitor would recognise
Promised next stepWhat happens after someone fills in the form? One choice from a fixed list for your recipe

Two more are optional:

FactQuestion in the appWhat it holds
AssetsWhat do you already have?A text list of things you can use, such as a logo, photos or a guide
ClaimsWhich results or credentials can you back up?Only results or credentials you can prove

The Assets fact is a written list. It doesn’t attach files. To add images to your page, see Add images and files.

Leave Claims empty rather than guess.

Your business name is a fact too, but you set it in the editor, not on the facts tab. Type it in Business name under Funnel basics on the Page design tab. Whatever you type there counts as confirmed. Clearing the field removes it. While it is empty, the preview shows Your business in its place.

Confirmed and suggested facts

Every fact has one of three states:

  • Confirmed: you checked it and saved it with its button (Confirm <fact> for the three required facts, Save <fact> for assets and claims). Only confirmed facts count.
  • Taken from your brief: FunnelCreative lifted it from the description you typed on the Create screen. It shows the note Taken from your brief. Check it reads right.
  • Suggested for this recipe: the recipe’s usual answer. It shows the note Suggested for this recipe. Change it if it doesn’t fit.

Suggestions come from simple text matching, not AI. The offer suggestion is the first sentence of your brief. The audience suggestion is the words after “for” in your brief, if there are any. The promised next step suggestion is the recipe’s usual answer. They can be wrong, so read each one before you confirm it.

A suggestion never replaces a fact you already confirmed, and it never changes the recipe you chose. Nothing is saved until you click the fact’s Confirm <fact> or Save <fact> button.

To confirm facts step by step, see Confirm your business facts.

The facts gate

Publishing waits for the three required facts:

  • On a workspace funnel, Launch setup shows a Business facts item that says Still needed: followed by the missing facts, with a Confirm facts button. The publish button stays unavailable until all three are confirmed.
  • On a browser draft, Launch setup shows the same item and adds Launch review waits for these.
  • Until the facts are confirmed, the editor’s top button is Confirm your facts. Once they are, it becomes Review setup, which opens Launch setup.

A funnel installed from a Campaign Vault pack has its own facts: every labelled blank in the pack must be confirmed before it can publish. See Campaign Vault: install and use a pack.

Placeholders

A placeholder is a token that holds the place of a fact in your copy. It looks like {{fact:offer-topic}}: two curly braces, the word fact, a colon, the fact’s key, and two closing braces. Keys use lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens.

A placeholder is there so that nothing is guessed. Where copy needs a detail you haven’t confirmed, it keeps the token instead of inventing a value.

Where placeholders come from

  • A funnel made from a recipe starts with no placeholders.
  • A Campaign Vault pack uses placeholders for every labelled blank. When you confirm a blank on the pack’s facts step, FunnelCreative writes your value into every matching placeholder in the page and email drafts, except in sections and email drafts where Keep my wording is ticked. Replace those placeholders yourself. See Fill in the blanks.

Why a placeholder blocks publishing

A published page must never show a raw token. So FunnelCreative checks the whole funnel before it publishes: the funnel name, page titles, every visible section, the form’s questions, help text, choices and consent line, and every email draft. If any of them still holds a placeholder, Launch setup lists it with a message ending “Still has the placeholder for <key>; confirm that fact or edit the text”, where <key> is the short word inside the placeholder, and a Confirm the fact button.

Any other text in double curly braces that isn’t a well-formed placeholder is also blocked, with the message “Has a malformed placeholder”. The {{first_name}} tokens in recipe email drafts are an example. Delete or replace them by hand. See Getting started.

Hidden sections aren’t published, so placeholders inside them don’t block publishing.

To clear a placeholder in a Campaign Vault pack, confirm the blank it stands for. Anywhere else, replace the token with your own words.

Unconfirmed claims stay off the page

Only you add claims to your page. FunnelCreative’s own suggestions never put a claim, result, deadline or asset you haven’t confirmed into your copy. If you can’t prove a result, leave it out.
