# Add images and files > Put your own images on your page, describe them for screen readers, reuse uploads across funnels and attach the file a download section offers. Applies to: FunnelCreative Commercial, Pro · Audience: humans Web page: https://staging.funnelcreative.com/docs/images-and-files ## Who can do this - Uploading images and files needs **FunnelCreative Commercial** (or **Pro**). With **Campaign Vault** alone, you can’t upload. - Owners, admins and members can upload and attach files. A **Viewer** can see which image a section uses but can’t change it. - Images and files work on workspace funnels, not on drafts saved only in this browser. ## Which sections take an image Only the **Top of page** section (the first section of your landing page) can show an image. Every other section on your funnels lays out without images. An image is always optional: without one, the section reads **No image. The section works without one.** ## Add an image 1. On **Page design**, open **Sections** and click **Top of page**. 2. Find **Image** **(optional)**. 3. Click **Upload an image** and pick a file from your computer. The editor shows **Uploading…**, then attaches the image to the section. 4. Or, to use an image you uploaded before, choose it from **Your uploaded images** (**Choose an image…**) and click **Use this image**. 5. Fill in **Image description**. The image shows in the preview straight away, unless it is very large (see [Limits](https://staging.funnelcreative.com/docs/images-and-files.md#limits)). To take the image off the section, click **Remove image**. The upload itself stays in **Your uploaded images**, so you can use it again. ## Write an image description **Image description** is the text people using screen readers hear instead of seeing the image. The editor says: **Describe what the image shows for people using screen readers. Leave it empty if it’s only decoration.** - Describe what matters in the image in one plain sentence, for example “Two people planning a garden at a kitchen table”. - Don’t start with “Image of”. Screen readers already say it is an image. - Leave it empty if the image adds nothing a visitor needs to know. An empty description marks the image as decoration, and screen readers skip it. - It can be up to 200 characters. See [Accessibility of your published pages](https://staging.funnelcreative.com/docs/accessibility.md). ## See where an image or file is used When a section shows an image or file, or when you pick one from **Your uploaded images** or **Your uploaded files**, the editor lists the funnels that use it: - **Not used in any funnel yet.**, or a list that starts **Used in** and names each funnel. Each name opens that funnel. - **Live** marks a funnel whose published page shows this file. - **Archived** marks a funnel that is archived. (The app has no button to archive a funnel in this release.) - **(this funnel)** marks the funnel you have open. While the list loads, it says **Checking where this file is used…**. If it can’t load, it says **We couldn’t check where this file is used.** ### Replacing a file on a live page If your live page shows the file, the editor warns: **Your live page shows this file. If you replace it, the live page keeps the current file until you publish again.** Replace it, check the preview, then publish again from **Launch setup** when you are ready. ## Attach the file for a download section Some funnels installed from a Campaign Vault download pack have a **Download** section. After visitors send the form, the thank-you page gives them a download link for this file. The link works for 30 minutes after they send the form. The pack doesn’t include the file: you make it and upload it. FunnelCreative doesn’t email it to anyone. See [Campaign Vault: install and use a pack](https://staging.funnelcreative.com/docs/campaign-vault.md). 1. Open the **Download** section in **Sections** and find **File to download**. 2. Click **Upload the file** **(PDF or image)** and pick the file. Or choose one from **Your uploaded files** (**Choose a file…**) and click **Use this file**. 3. When it is attached, the section shows the file’s name and **Attached. It’s offered from the next publish.** 4. To swap it later, use **Upload a replacement** or pick another file and click **Replace with this file**. Until a file is attached, the section says **No file attached yet, so this funnel can’t be published.** In **Launch setup**, the launch checks say **No file is attached yet. Upload it (or choose one you’ve uploaded) before publishing.** Click **Attach the file** there to jump straight to the section. Hiding the **Download** section doesn’t clear this check. If **Launch setup** says **Download files can’t be delivered here yet: the download signing key for this environment has not been added.**, the server you use isn’t set up to hand out download files, and a funnel with a **Download** section can’t be published there. Nothing you change in the funnel fixes this. ## What happens next - Your uploads are private to your workspace. Visitors see a file only once a page that uses it is published. - The image or file appears on your published page from your next publish. - Attaching or removing an image is saved as a new version, like any other edit, so you can undo it. See [Undo, version history and save conflicts](https://staging.funnelcreative.com/docs/versions-and-undo.md). ## Limits - Image types: PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF. SVG images aren’t accepted. - Download files: a PDF, or a PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF image. - Size limit for one image: stated in the message an upload shows when an image is too large. - Size limit for one download file: stated in the message an upload shows when a file is too large. - Your workspace’s uploads together have a storage limit. Its size is not shown in the app: when the workspace is full, an upload fails with a message ending in “(quota_exceeded). Nothing changed.” - A funnel can use at most 24 files. - A visitor’s download link works for 30 minutes after they send the form. - Image description: up to 200 characters. - Very large images are attached but not drawn in the editor preview. The section then says **Attached. It’s too large to show in this preview, but it will appear on the published page.** - Replacing or removing an image drops the old one from the funnel when nothing else on the page uses it, so an old file never blocks publishing. - The app has no button to delete an upload. ## If something goes wrong The editor explains every refused upload under the image or file box. Nothing on your page changes when an upload fails. - **Images must be PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF.** Save or export the image in one of these formats and try again. - **Downloads must be a PDF or a PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF image.** Save the file as a PDF or one of these image formats. - The file is over the size limit: the message says so and suggests exporting a smaller version. For images, about 1600 px wide is plenty. - **This funnel already uses 24 files. Remove one first.** Remove an image you no longer need, then try again. - A message that starts **wasn’t uploaded (** and ends **). Nothing changed.** The short code in brackets says why. For example, `quota_exceeded` means your workspace has used its upload storage, `oversize` means the file is larger than one upload may be, `unsupported_type` means the file’s contents didn’t match an allowed type, and `empty_upload` means the file was empty. - The upload couldn’t reach FunnelCreative: check your connection and try again. - The upload worked but couldn’t be prepared for publishing or attached: the message says it isn’t attached, and your page is unchanged. Try again. - The message says your role can’t attach images or files: ask an owner or admin, or check your role in [Your team: members, roles and workspaces](https://staging.funnelcreative.com/docs/team-and-roles.md). - **The file for this image isn’t attached, so the page is shown without it and it can’t be published yet. Choose an image again or remove it.** Pick the image again from **Your uploaded images**, or click **Remove image**.
