# Update, roll back or take down a live funnel

> Publish a new version of a live funnel, put an earlier version back, or take the funnel down, without losing any leads or versions.

Applies to: FunnelCreative Commercial, Pro · Audience: humans
Web page: https://staging.funnelcreative.com/docs/change-rollback-unpublish

## Who can do this

Workspaces with **FunnelCreative Commercial**, with or without the Pro upgrade. The owner, admins and members can publish changes, roll back and take a funnel down. Viewers see the status but no buttons.

Taking a funnel down is always allowed, whatever your plan.

## Before you start

Open the funnel and choose the **Launch setup** tab. The top of the tab, **What visitors see**, shows what is live right now.

## Publish your changes

The live page never changes while you edit. Your edits are saved as new versions of the funnel, but visitors keep seeing the version you published until you publish again.

1. Make your changes in the editor.
2. Open **Launch setup** and clear any new items in the launch checks. See [Publish your funnel](https://staging.funnelcreative.com/docs/publish-your-funnel.md#launch-checks).
3. Click **Publish changes · version N**.
4. The dialog **Publish version N?** tells you which live version this replaces. Click **Publish version N** to confirm.

When it's done, the new version is live and the version it replaced moves to **Published versions** as an **Earlier release**.

While the version you're looking at is already live, there is no publish button. Instead you see **Version N is what visitors see. Edit the page to publish a new version.**

Changes to a Pro brand kit, or to the **Made with FunnelCreative** badge, work the same way: the live page shows them only from your next publish. See [Brand kits, the badge and presets (Pro)](https://staging.funnelcreative.com/docs/brand-and-presets.md).

## Roll back to an earlier version

Every version you have published is kept. **Published versions** lists the most recent ones, newest first. The one visitors see is marked **Live now**. The others are marked **Earlier release**, with the date they were published.

1. Under **Published versions**, find the version you want.
2. Click **Roll back to version N**.
3. The dialog **Roll back to version N?** explains that nothing is deleted and every lead stays in your inbox. Confirm with **Roll back to version N**.
4. You'll see **Version N is live again.**

Rolling back is quick, because every published version is kept exactly as it was. Rolling back doesn't change what you're editing: your latest version stays in the editor, and you can publish it again at any time.

The list says **Leads from every version stay in your inbox.** Each lead records the version it came from.

If a version's stored files are no longer complete, you see **That version can’t be restored** and **Its published files are no longer complete. Nothing was changed.**

## Forms on older versions keep working for a while

When a newer version goes live, or you roll back, someone may still have the old page open. Forms on the replaced version keep accepting enquiries for 24 hours, as long as the funnel is still live. Those leads arrive in your inbox with the older version number.

After that, or once the funnel is taken down, the old form answers “This form is no longer accepting enquiries.”

## Take a funnel down

1. In **Launch setup**, click **Unpublish**.
2. The dialog **Take this funnel down?** explains what happens. Confirm with **Unpublish**.
3. The status shows **Taking down** and **Waiting for the server to confirm the page is down.**
4. Then you see **Your funnel is down. Visitors to its address now get “not found”. Your leads are kept.**

After you take a funnel down:

- Visitors to its address get a plain “Not found” page, and its form stops accepting enquiries.
- The address stays reserved for this funnel. Nobody else can take it.
- Every version is kept. The version that was live moves to **Published versions** as an **Earlier release**, so you can put it back with **Roll back to version N**, or publish your latest version again.
- Every lead stays in your inbox.
- The status reads **Unpublished**, and **What visitors see** says **Nothing is live. Earlier versions are kept below.**
- The funnel no longer counts towards how many funnels your workspace can have live.

## What happens next

- Publish, roll back and take down each change what visitors see on their next visit. Nothing is half-live: if something fails, the version that was live stays live.
- Leads and analytics keep every version apart. See [Your lead inbox and CSV export](https://staging.funnelcreative.com/docs/leads.md) and [Analytics: views and submissions](https://staging.funnelcreative.com/docs/analytics.md).

## Limits

- Only the latest saved version can be published. Earlier versions can only be put back with **Roll back to version N**.
- If nothing is live when you roll back, the funnel needs room in your live-funnel allowance: the **Live funnels** figure on your Plan card (**Settings → Brand & presets → Plan**).
- Forms on a replaced version accept enquiries for 24 hours.
- While a workspace deletion is pending, you can't publish or roll back. You can still take funnels down.

## If something goes wrong

### This funnel changed after you reviewed it

Someone saved a newer version between your review and your click. You see **This funnel changed after you reviewed it**, and a message that nothing was published. Click **Review the latest version**, check the launch checks again, then publish.

### Someone else changed what’s live

A teammate, or you in another tab, published, rolled back or took the funnel down at the same moment. You see **Someone else changed what’s live** and **This funnel was published, rolled back or taken down in another tab or by a teammate. Nothing was changed by this request. Check what’s live now, then try again.** Click **Check what’s live** to refresh, then decide again.

### Fix these before publishing

A launch check failed on the server. You see **Fix these before publishing** and **Nothing was published.**, with the items to fix. See [Publish your funnel](https://staging.funnelcreative.com/docs/publish-your-funnel.md#launch-checks).

### This workspace is scheduled for deletion

While a workspace deletion is pending, nothing in it can go live. The deletion request takes every live page down, and every form in the workspace answers “This form is no longer accepting enquiries.” until the deletion is cancelled. Publishing and rolling back are refused with **This workspace is scheduled for deletion**. The owner can cancel the deletion in Settings → Account & data. Cancelling doesn't put any funnel back live: publish each one again yourself. See [Export your data, delete leads on request, close your account](https://staging.funnelcreative.com/docs/account-and-data.md).
